Frequently Asked Questions

Blacktop Summer Basketball is a fun and competitve environment for all youth ages 7-15. Players will enjoy spending weeks of playing basketball with many oppurtunities to enhance their skills while creating great bonds with their teammates. Blacktop is lead by voulunteers  each choosing to participate in Blacktop because of their love for basketball and the stong community engagment this league brings every year. 

Blacktop is a co-ed league for ages 7-15.

Age groups are as follows: 7-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15

The 2025 season will begin in June and is projected to end August 1st. Exact are TBD.

The season begins during the second week of June and will end the first week of August. Official dates are announced yearly. This is due to the beginning of the season depending on the majority of when local schools end classes and the end of the season is dependent on the weather throughout the season.

You may register individually or with a team. All that is required to register is a complete registration form, provide proof of age (a copy of a birth certificate is acceptable) and the registration fee. Once everything is completed and gathered bring the information to one of the registration days. 

When registering with a team discuss with the team's head coach on how they will be handling their team registration.

Team registration requires the same information as needed for the individual registration process. The only additional information needed is a team roster form.  In order for a player to be added to a team they must be on the roster form.

Each player has a registration fee of $60.

Games are played Monday through Friday. Teams play twice a week.  

Age Groups 7-9 and 10-11: Monday and Wednesday 6pm-8pm

Age Groups 12-13 and 14-15: Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-9pm

Age Group 16: Tuesday and Thursday 9pm

Every game will be played at Reading City Park. City Park is located on Washington St. & Columbus Drive Reading, PA 19601.  

The championship games' location will be announced soon.

Schedules will be posted on the website at the beginning on the season. They are available to download. 

Any schedule changes will be posted on the website and on our social media sites.

Practices are not a requirement in this league as the coaches are all volunteers. Since they volunteer their time to coach please respect their decisions on practices. We advise and encourage coaches to host practices to allow their teams to develop and encourage team bonding.

We will do our best to accomated you with whatever issues or concerns you have, but we do not issue refunds once the season begins. All payments are final.
